Indoor Crew, Winter 2010

Jesters Crew Excels at World Indoor Championships

Nine members of the Emma Willard Crew team joined thousands of other top rowers from around the globe who descended on Boston, MA, on Sunday, February 14, to compete in the World Indoor Rowing Championships (CRASH-B’s). With only a month of formal training under their belts, the talented Emma girls rowed beautifully, two achieving personal best times (PR), while the other seven finished with times extremely close to their own records.
 
Last year’s National Championship Lightweight Double pair of Celeste and Libby took home team honors while Emily and Sarah both PR’d. Celeste and Libby joined 78 competitors in the Junior Women Lightweight Division while Emily, Annie, Sarah, Andrea, Andrea, Kiana, and Brittany competed in the Junior Women’s Division fielding 219 rowers—the largest event of the regatta.
 
The full Emma squad completes winter training March 4 in anticipation of starting on-water practices after spring break. The Jesters open their season at home at the Emma Willard Invitational Regatta, Saturday, April 10.
